Barbonius Blotchy Anthias

Odontanthias borbonius, also called the Blotchy Anthias, is a highly sought after fish. They are very colorful with yellow blotches and stripes on their pink bodies. The Blotch Anthias is found in deeper waters than most reef fish, and should therefore be housed in aquariums with subdued lighting and plenty places to hide.

True Percula Clowfish and Anemone

Pictured is a True Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion percula) and its host anemone. This clownfish and its partner (not pictured) dart in and out of the anemone all day, using it for protection from predators.

Bartlett’s Anthias

The Bartlett’s Anthias, much like most Anthias, can be a gorgeous shoaling fish in a large reef aquarium. These fish require a mixed diet consisting of various crustacean-based items like Mysis Shrimp, enriched Brine Shrimp, Cyclopeeze, etc. The Bartlett’s Anthias will also do well if fed multiple times per day.

Blue Spotted Boxfish

The Blue Spotted Boxfish is quite the oddball. It, like other boxfish, has a very unusual shape and swims in a funny way. But this particular oddball really caught my eye. It is a vibrant blue with white and yellow dots. The top, or dorsal portion, of the fish reminds of a Clown Trigger, but [...]

Ocellaris Clownfish and Rose Bubble Tip Anemone

Here is a picture of one of my former aquarium inhabitants…a very large female Amphiprion ocellaris clownfish being hosted by a rose bubble tip anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor). The female clownfish are larger and more dominant than the male. This particular specimen was quite large, leading me to come to the conclusion it was female.

Orange-back Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis)

The Orange-back fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis), pictured above, isn’t the most attractive wrasse available, but this fish’s fun personality and sociability make it a great tank mate. This fish is actually one of my absolute favorites.

ORA Naked Clowns in Green Bubble Tip Anemone

Who says captive bred clownfish won’t take to an anemone? These ORA Naked clownfish are as happy as they can be in this green bubble tip anemone. This clownfish is almost completely devoid of the traditional stripes seen on normal Ocellaris clownfish. ORA (Oceans Reefs and Aquariums) has bred many different types of clownfish, some [...]
